Career Center Offers Internship Notation

As the semester winds down and finals preparation winds up, students are waiting for responses from potential internships for the upcoming summer.  Many students have already secured their internships, and can capitalize on that by registering for Dickinson’s Internship Notation Program (INP) through the Career Center.

According to Dickinson’s website, registering for the INP will become a part of students’ academic record by being placed on their official transcript.  In addition to being recognized by the college, students in the program will be covered by the school’s liability insurance during the internship.  Students will also have access to and support from Dickinson staff for the duration of the internship.

Being a part of the INP requires students to complete reflective assignments throughout the experience. By doing this, the Career Center staff believes that it will refine students’ career and personal goals, helping them realize what exactly they want to do. Also, students will learn how to “effectively articulate” their internship and experience on their resumes when interviewing for jobs, internships or graduate schools in the future, according to the Dickinson website.

In order to qualify for the INP, students must secure an internship that runs at least eight weeks and 80 hours in total during the spring, fall or summer.  The program is open to all current Dickinson students, but the work must be “pre-professional work experiences that enhance [their] knowledge about an industry or organization,” according to the Dickinson website.  Students interning this upcoming summer must have registered by June 6 to be accepted into the INP.  Students with further questions about the program should contact Director of Internship Programs Amity Fox at [email protected].
