College Hits Target Yield for 2020 Class

Following the May 1 deadline for online submissions, the class of 2020 will be comprised of approximately 629 students as of Tuesday, May 3, according to Angela Barone, director of Admissions Communication.

Barone clarified that not all enrollment deposits have been received, meaning the class of 2020 could still be growing.

This number is significantly less than the 765 students that made up the class of 2019 this time last year. However, it is closer to the 649 students from the class of 2018. Barone says “the [new] class is intentionally smaller than last year’s,” referring to the enrollment of the largest class in Dickinson history with the class of 2019.

354 students of the class of 2020 are females, says Barone. This makes the class’s overall population 56 percent female, which is 2 percent lower than that of the current first-year class, according to the Dickinson website.

121 of the enrolled students for the class of 2020 are students of color, who will make up about 19 percent of the class population. This is in line with the 19 percent of students of color represented in the class of 2019.
