Study Shows 99% of Study Abroad Students Experience Increase in “Likes”

Dickinson students pride themselves on expanding their minds, developing as global citizens, engaging the world, and most importantly breaking 100 likes on Instagram. Second only to LinkedIn, Instagram is the most widely used social media platform by current college students. The Center for Global Study and Engagement has this to say, “Although we would like to think students are drawn to study abroad for academic purposes, it really boils down to how much it will increase their social media presence. Why do you think CGSE has amped up our own instagram account?”

Although many students choose the Dickinson-in-Carlisle study abroad program, a smaller percentage venture out of the country to achieve their global experience. The most popular country from Dickinson’s wide selection of destinations is Europe. Europe is a beautiful country with a lot to offer. In true Dickinson fashion, global students think outside the box and venture to the lesser known cultural hotspots like the Eiffel Tower, the Duomo, Leaning Tower of Pizza, and the Great Wall of China. An anonymous senior had this to say about Instagramming the world, “The trick to beating 100 likes is taking into consideration the time difference back on campus. I may have to stay up until 1 a.m. but it’s all worth it in the end. My parents couldn’t be prouder.”
