Women’s Swimming Splits Home Series

The Dickinson women’s swimming team overcame Franklin & Marshall on Saturday to take home a match win on Senior Day.

The Dickinson women’s swim team came up short against visiting Washington College, falling 113-92 on Saturday afternoon, January 21 but bounced back to claim a 114-91 win over Franklin & Marshall as the Red Devils celebrated Senior Day at the Kline Center.

Emily Houser ’17 shined against the Shorewomen, winning the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:05.29 and placing second in the 500 free (5:26.99) and the 400 free relay (3:48.39).

Katie Schmidt ’19 claimed first place in the 200 backstroke, posting a time of 2:11.82 and placed second with the 400 free relay and in the 200 freestyle event (2:03.48).

Molly Sternick ’20 touched the wall first in the 200 butterfly (2:14.47) and came home second in the 50 free (25.98). Sternick also anchored the free relay to earn her second silver of the day.

Against the Diplomats, Olivia Lyman ’19 continued her dominance in the freestyle events, winning both the 1,000 and 500-yard freestyle events with times of 10:45.33 and 5:22.27, respectively. She took home a win in the 200 freestyle as well, finishing in 2:00.75.

Schmidt and Ruhl added wins in the 200 backstroke and the 200 butterfly, respectively. Sternick finished second just behind Ruhl in the butterfly with a time of 2:15.79 and was part of the winning 400 free relay in addition to taking home a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.05.

The Red Devils improve to 7-3 overall and 3-2 in the Centennial Conference. They have since travelled to Gettysburg College on Wednesday night for a 7:00 p.m. meet against the Bullets.
