Women’s Lacrosse Notches Eighth Win

The Dickinson women’s lacrosse team remains unbeaten in the Centennial Conference.

The Dickinson women’s lacrosse team improved to 5-0 in the Centennial Conference, earning a 15-8 win over visiting Swarthmore College on Friday night, April 14 at Biddle Field.

The Red Devils took an early lead as senior Maddy Siebold ’17 scored a pair of free position attempts to put Dickinson up, 2-0.

Dickinson stretched the lead to 4-0 as Eleanor Kaestner ’19 scored off a feed from Allison Carey ’17 and Sophie Waine ’17 assisted Anne Dunster ’19. Swarthmore tallied to get on the board and converted a free position to cut the deficit to 4-2. Kaestner tallied her second of the game to bring the Red Devils’ lead to 5-2.

Talene Bush ’17 countered another Swarthmore goal with a free position score to give Dickinson a 6-3 lead going into halftime.

Siebold tallied back-to-back goals to start the second period as well before the Garned scored their first goal of the second to make the score 8-5 with 15:49 remaining.

Kaestner went on a tear, tallying a hat-trick to extend the lead to 11-5. Tara Cassidy ’19 grabbed a draw control and passed an assist to Kaestner as she scored her sixth goal of the game, stretching the Dickinson’s advantage to 13-6.

Dunster handed out assists to Siebold and Bush to close out the Red Devils’ scoring for the final tally of 15-8.

Kaestner scored six goals on eight shots while Siebold finished with five on the night. Dunster scored once and racked up four assists. Goalkeeper Tara Cuddihy ’17 made eight saves in the nets, adding four turnovers caused and controlling six ground balls.

The Red Devils improve to 8-4 and 5-0 in conference play. They travel to No. 3-ranked Gettysburg College on Wednesday, April 18 to take on the Bullets at 4:00 pm.
