The soups at Dickinson are actually very tasty and enjoyable. The first soup I ever tried in the cafeteria was the tomato soup, which I didn’t love, as I’m very picky when it comes to good tomato soup. I thought that it was too bland and thick, but I always hear that the soups are pretty decent so I decided to give the soups a second chance and tried the Italian wedding soup.
To my surprise, it was actually quite satisfying. It contained carrots, parsley, meatballs and shredded chicken, all in chicken broth. I’ve actually never had Italian Wedding soup before so I didn’t have anything to compare it to, but as I was eating it I thought it was a spin off of chicken noodle soup. The chicken broth was very flavorful, but was a bit too salty for my liking. I’ve noticed that a lot of the cafeteria’s food is very salty, and for some this might be a good thing but I’m not big on salty foods. They should put less salt in the soup initially so students can then add as much salt as they want. The Italian wedding soup definitely lacked chicken but the meatballs made up for it. They were miniature sized and weren’t over cooked at all, really just right. Overall, my first experience with Italian wedding soup was a good one and I can see myself eating the cafeteria’s Italian wedding soup again.
