Caf Review: Stuffed Shells

Caf+Review%3A+Stuffed+Shells

Last Saturday I came into the caf sleep deprived and in desperate needed of a tasty and filling meal.  I sat with my friends, who seemed unimpressed with the dishes in front of them. When I asked them if they had tried the stuffed shells yet, they said no. I was surprised, since that was the main reason I decided to go the caf that day. When I walked to the entrée bar, which is usually my first stop of any caf visit, I saw a full plate of stuffed pasta shells lined up neatly in rows. I asked the person at the bar for two to start out with, as I wanted to make sure of their quality before I committed to them as an entrée. I went back to my table, eager to take a bite. After I ate my first shell, I was impressed by the quality and flavor of the ricotta cheese and the firmness of the noodles. The only thing that the dish was lacking was more tomato sauce. I believed more tomato sauce was needed because too much pasta and cheese without sauce can taste a little dry. Once I added some fresh meat tomato sauce from the pasta bar to the second and final shell and went back to my table, I gave the dish another try. It was fantastic! On my second try I had achieved the perfect balance of savory ricotta, pasta, and flavorful tomato sauce. I went back up to the bar for more, but when I had finally got to the front of an ever-increasing line, I saw that they were out of pasta shells. That’s when I realized I was not the only one who was impressed by the pasta shells, as a handful of other students stood by crowding around the entrée bar, waiting for more fresh pasta shells. When new shells were finally delivered, I got back into the long line and waited patiently for the fantastic dish. My friends, both scared and in awe of my ability to scarf down plate after plate of stuffed shells, went up to get their own plates as well. If you don’t believe me when I say that the stuffed pasta shells are one of the best dishes in the caf, then ask your friends. If they were one of my many fellow food enthusiasts that appreciate Italian food done right and stood in line right beside me, they would surely recommend them the next time you visit the caf.
