The Red Devils men’s soccer team had five players earn spots on the All-Centennial Conference Team.

Dickinson had five players named to the 2016 All-Centennial Conference Men’s Soccer Team, announced on Thursday afternoon. Matt Edmonds ’18 was a First-team selection and Danny Sheppard ’17 earned Second-team honors while Jeremy Palcan ’17, Chris Pollock ’18 and Mason Pritchard ’18 received honorable mention.

Edmonds was a dominant force in the midfield all season long, serving as one of the Red Devils’ primary playmakers while adding 3 goals and 4 assists on the year. He controlled both ends of the field with solid defense and exceptional ball handling skills to help the Red Devils in transition.

Sheppard continued to elevate his play throughout the season and had a strong finish to help the team secure their sixth straight appearance in the postseason. He led the Red Devils with six goals and five assists this season, and ranked sixth in the conference in points, fifth in assists and eighth in goals scored.

Palcan had another solid year in the nets for the Red Devils, posting 5 shutouts in 17 appearances this fall. He recorded back-to-back clean sheets as Dickinson closed out the conference schedule with 3 wins and a tie to secure their playoff bid. He led the Centennial Conference with 90 saves and was tied for third with an .811 save percentage. He was seventh in goals-against-average, surrendering just 1.38 goals per game. Palcan has been a consistent starter throughout his career as a Red Devil and ranks fourth all-time at Dickinson with 15 career shutouts and holds the number six spot with a goals-against-average of 1.08.

Pollock has started all but two games in his three years as a Red Devil. For the past two seasons he has played a critical role as a holding center mid, orchestrating the attack while supporting the defense in the middle of the field. He tallied just one goal, but, along with Edmonds, has been a key element in creating goal-scoring opportunities in the attacking third.

Pritchard has also been a consistent starter, anchoring a defense that has produced seven shutouts in each of the past two seasons. He has also proven to be a dangerous threat on offensive corners, adding two goals and three assists in his career. He played a key role in the Red Devils’ run to the conference final last season.
