Men’s Track Sweeps 3000m Race at Susq. Challenge

The Dickinson men’s indoor track & field team competed in the Susquehanna University Challenge on Friday night, February 3, in Selinsgrove. The Red Devils went up against teams from Division II as well as Division III teams.

The Red Devils swept the 3,000 meter contests, with Mason Hepner ’17 winning the race with a time of 8:39.34. Duncan Hopkins ’19 and Bryce Descavish ’20 claimed silver and bronze, crossing the line in 8:41.19 and 8:41.59.

Thomas Riordan ’20 added a ninth place showing in the 400 meters, clocking a time of 53.15. Matthew Trang ’19 posted a time of 56.93 in the 400.

Patrick Nolan ’17 finished 11th in the mile race, crossing the line in 4:36.96 and 12th in the 800 meters, clocking a time of 2:04.35. Matt Persick ’18 came in with times of 4:42.66 in the mile and 2:10.28 in the 800. Eli Laue ’17 ran the mile in 4:44.64.

Marcus Robinson ’19 tied for eighth place in the 60 meter competition with a time of 7.34. He was eighth in the 4×200 relay (1:39.13) and clocked a time of 24.30 to finish in the top 15 in the 200 meters.

Ellis Kimmel ’20 and Ryan Murphy ‘20 competed in the 4×200 relay.Murphy also had a time of 7.65 in the 60 meters and went 24.75 in the 200. Devin Glasson ’18 threw the shot put 12.83 meters for an eighth-place finish while Robert Pearl ’20 was 11th with a throw distance of 11.95 meters.

Zach Popkin ’19 jumped a distance of 5.42 meters (17’-9.5”) in the long jump.

The Red Devils return home to host the DuCharme Invitational on Saturday, February 11, with the meet starting at 10 a.m.
