Women’s Swimming Drops Final Meet

The Dickinson women’s swim team suffered a 117-88 loss in its regular season finale at Swarthmore College on Saturday afternoon, February 4.

Olivia Lyman ’19 turned in another triple-win performance, taking home first place in both the 1,000 and 500-yard freestyle events with times of 10:38.09 and 5:19.84, respectively. She added her third and final win of the day in the 200 freestyle, touching the wall in 2:00.10.

Emily Houser ’17 earned third place in the 1,000 and 500 freestyle with marks of 11:00.52 and 5:25.82, respectively, and she captured silver with the 200 free relay as the team posted a time of 2:12.19.

Sammy Boswell 18 led-off the second-place free relay, adding a win in the 100 freestyle (56.26) and a second-place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.15.

Katie Schmidt 18 swam the lead leg of the second place 400 medley relay effort as they combined for a time of 4:15.31. She won the 200 backstroke in 2:12.99 and finished third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:04.05. Devon Korhammer 18 finished third in the backstroke with a time of 2:19.60.

Molly Sternick 20 took second place in the 200 butterfly event with a time of 2:15.72 and anchored the free relay. Demetria Ruhl 20 was third in the butterfly with a time of 2:17.95 and swam the third leg of the medley.

Jacqulyn Teller 17 and Tanita Leary 17 rounded out the medley relay while Madeline Callahan ‘20 placed third in the 200 individual medley, clocking a time of 2:19.51 and joined the free relay.

The Red Devils finish the regular season with an overall record of 7-5 and 3-4 in the Centennial Conference. They will travel to Franklin & Marshall for the Centennial Conference Championships on February 17th, 18th and 19th where they will attempt to upset undefeated Ursinus College.
