Women’s Soccer Remains Unbeaten

The Dickinson women’s soccer team remains undefeated on the year, posting a 4-0 win over the visiting University of Pittsburgh-Bradford on Wednesday, September 6, a 7-1 rout of Mt. St. Vincent on Saturday, September 9, and a 1-0 victory over Penn State-Berks on Sunday, September 10.

The Red Devils controlled the entire game from the opening kick-off to the final whistle to record their third consecutive shutout of the season against Pitt. Dickinson struck first, scoring in the 22nd minute as Killian Donohue ’19 served a beautiful ball to Ellie Harris ’21 who redirected it into the back of the net.

Caitlin Gugliotta ’20 sparked the Red Devils offense early in the second half, to a 3-0 lead for Dickinson. She ran down the right side and fed Tara Dedrickson ’21 who put a shot in the right corner of the net for a 2-0 lead.

Gugliotta made a similar play just moments later, this time going straight for the goal and succeeding to stretch the Red Devils’ lead to 3-0 in the 61st minute.

Abby Kaija ’20 scored the match’s final goal off an assist from Emma Moore ’21 in the 71st minute to give the Red Devils their third consecutive win of the season.

Goalkeeper and Centennial Conference Player of the Week Mary Katherine Brosnan ’19 tallied her third straight shutout of the season, only being forced to make two saves on the night thanks to a stifling defensive effort by her teammates.

The Red Devils outshot the Panthers 30-3 for the game, allowing no first-half shots wile forcing eight corners and allowing just one by the Panthers.

Dedrickson put the Red Devils on the board first against Mt. St. Vincent, scoring off an assist from Harris, just 3:54 after the start of the match.

Dickinson put up three more goals to take a 4-0 lead into halftime. They would tack on three more in the second half while Mt. St. Vincent’s Erin Dailey spoiled the shutout, placing a shot into the corner of the net. It was the first goal allowed by the Red Devils all season.

Elizabeth Krause ’20 found the net twice on the day to lead the Red Devils in scoring. Harris tallied two assists, one to Dedrickson early on and one to Krause on her first goal in the 34th minute. Olivia Termini ’19, Jessie Anker ’21, Sienna Zittle ’20 and Rachel Lazris ’20 each recorded a goal for Dickinson. Brosnan made four saves on the day.

The Red Devils will face Shenandoah University on Wednesday, September 13 at Miller Memorial Field at 5 p.m.
