Baseball Goes  0-2 Against  Washington College

 

The Dickinson baseball team had a rough outing on Saturday, April 14 against Washington College (20-11) after facing a close loss against McDaniel the previous night.

Friday, April 13 brought a 6-5 loss for the Red Devils as they fought to the final inning to try for a victory.

Saturday, the Red Devils (6-18) lost the first game of the double-header 7-0 and the second game 13-5.

In the first game, the Red Devils were no-hit by the Shoremen’s P.J Mikulus. Mikulus was on pace for a perfect game until Brendan Pell ’21 reached base safely on an error breaking Mikulus’s perfect game bid. The Red Devils tried to make a comeback from the 5 runs the Shoremen brought in at the top of the 1st but were unfortunately unsuccessful.

Connor Langan ’21 took the hill for the Red Devils in the first game of the double-header. Langan had a solid outing, pitching six innings and only allowing three hits in his start. Errors played a key role in helping Washington jump out to a 7-0 lead that they would have for the entirety of the game.

In the nightcap, the Red Devils’ bats came alive but Dickinson still suffered a 13-5 loss. Going into the fourth, the game was tied 5-5 but Washington was able to take the lead in the 5th and score three more in the 6th making it a 9-5 advantage. Washington continued to build on their lead, tallying runs in the 8th and 9th innings.

Robbie Thompson ’18 had a strong performance at the plate in game two, going 3-4, and Ben Carter ’19 went 3-5 with a double and two runs scored. Daniel Zimmerman ’20 added two hits and tallied two RBIs and a run scored.

The Red Devils’ record slips to 3-7 in the Centennial Conference and 6-19 overall. The men look to bounce back on Saturday, April 21 against Haverford.
