The men and women’s cross-country teams have had incredible showings in their season. Both teams are nationally ranked.
The most recent victory for the men was at Centennial Conference Championships on Saturday, Nov. 2, where they came in 3rd place overall. The highest finisher was Bryce Descavish ’20 who came in sixth place. Descavish was also named to the 2019 All-Conference team, he received First-Team Honors.
Christopher Scharf ’22 was next to finish with an impressive eighth place run. He was also named to the All-Conference Team where he received Second-Team Honors.
The men all competed strongly having strong finishes and times all day. Ethan Burg ’20 and Shane Coll ’23 led the way in the men’s open race. The men are ranked 31st nationally and fourth in the region and therefore will advance to the NCAA Mideast Regionals this upcoming Saturday, Nov. 16.
The women are also performing just as strongly. They placed second at Centennial Conference Championships. Isabel Cardi ’21 posted a first-place finish on the day. She was named Runner of the Year as well as receiving a first-team honor. She was then followed by Sarah House ’20 who came in fourth on the day and was also awarded first-team honor. The next closest Red Devil was Tessa Cassidy ’20, who received second-team honors, coming in eighth for the day.
The women are ranked fifth nationally and second in the region and will also advance to the NCAA Mideast Regionals on Saturday, Nov. 16 with the men.
Dom Nitchter was named Coach of the Year for an excellent season that is going to continue into Regionals with strong runners and amazing showings by the Red Devils. Nitchter has produced two nationally ranked team that remain competitive at very high levels of current competition.
