Water Aerobics Introduced at the Kline
With over 100 clubs and multiple free group exercise classes, Dickinson offers a multitude of
ways to get involved on campus. Recently, Water Aerobics has been re-added to the list, hosted by Human Resource Services. Water aerobics class takes place every Monday from 5-6 p.m. in the Kline Center pool. The program began on Monday, March 20 and will continue through Monday, May 8. It is open to students and employees; the event can be found on EngageD and requires registration via Totara.
The description on EngageD reads, “Water aerobic exercise burns calories, tone muscles and refreshes with a dip in the pool! Enjoy a great low-impact, aerobic workout to music in a stress-free environment. Great for all levels of fitness! Sign up now to enjoy a healthy, low-impact workout in the Kline Center pool this Spring.”
Jeanette Diamond, Wellness and Staff Development Coordinator, said “Water Aerobics is not new for our Employee Wellness Program. We have offered this for many years. Employee Wellness started at Dickinson back in Fall 2006, and has had a variety [of] programs covering all aspects of wellbeing since that time. Water Aerobics was added to the mix very early on, and has always been one of our core programs since it offers aerobic exercise as well as building strength and stamina — all without the impact of a non-water based program.”
Jeanetta also said as a further advertisement, “It [water aerobics] is especially helpful and therapeutic for anyone with bone or joint issues that would be aggravated by regular aerobic type activity such as walking or running. We offer Water Aerobics for all of these reasons and more, and it also adds both variety and fun to the fitness options to benefit the campus community.”
In addition to Water Aerobics, Human Resource Services also hosts Pilates on Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., followed by a second class from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Additionally, Zumba classes are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays 4-5 p.m. as well as Sports Yoga Tuesdays 5-6 p.m.
