The artist for this year’s spring concert will encourage the Dickinson College student body to “keep your head up.”
The Multi-Organizational Board (MOB) has chosen singer-songwriter Andy Grammer to perform at the spring concert. As announced via Red Devils Television Network on Thursday, Feb. 28, the concert will be on Friday, April 5 in the Anita Tuvin Schlechter (ATS) auditorium. The band Parachute will be the opening act.
“We chose…Grammer and Parachute as the spring concert acts because the past few concerts have been rap and electronic music and we got the sense that students were interested in something different,” explained Concert Chair Sarah Rose ’15. “It’s really difficult to choose an act that everyone will like every semester, which is why we strive to bring a diversity of artists to campus. Both Grammer and Parachute are great acts with catchy songs that you can’t get out of your head and we’re sure they’ll put on an amazing show. “
According to Grammer’s official website, his self-titled debut album was released in June 2011. The three most popular singles from the album are “Keep Your Head Up,” “Fine By Me” and “Miss Me.” He has toured withTaylor Swift, Train and Colbie Caillat. In its “Artists to Watch” list from 2011, “Billboard Magazine” described Grammer as “pop…[and] a cross between Maroon 5 and John Legend.”
Parachute, the rock band performing the opening act, released its most recent single, “Hearts Go Crazy,” on Tuesday, Feb. 26. Its most recent album, released in 2011, is titled “The Way It Was.”
Dickinson students may purchase one ticket per person for $15 during the first week of sales, which ends Saturday, March. 9, via http://dickinson.universitytickets.com. Credit cards, debit cards and student-submitted declining balance are the only forms of payment accepted.
