Volleyball Shuts Out PSU-Harrisburg
The Dickinson volleyball team beat Penn-State Harrisburg 3-0 in a match on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Earlier in the week, Dickinson lost to Swarthmore, 3-0, on Saturday, Sept. 21. The loss against Swarthmore drops the Red Devils to 0-2 in Centennial Conference play. They have eight games left on their conference schedule.
Against PSU-Harrisburg, Dickinson swept the three sets, 25-17, 25-16, and 25-20, respectively. Laura Silverman ’16 led Dickinson with 11 kills. Emily Kisak ‘14 led with two blocks, Joanna DeCastro ’14 led with five digs, and Arielle Misrok ’17 led with four served aces.The aces were key for the Red Devils as they totalled 11 and only allowed one. Dickinson dominated in hitting percentage, out-hitting PSU-Harrisburg .220-.073.
Against the Swarthmore Garnet, Dickinson lost all three sets, falling 25-15, 25-11, and 25-22, respectively. Swarthmore has been a diminant team this season as they currently sit 11-3. The Dickinson game was their first conference game. They are one of four undefeated teams left in the conference.
“This last Saturday was a tough loss to Swarthmore,” said Emily Smith ’16. “Every team has off days though so all we can do is pick ourselves up and get ready to dominate in our next match.”
Dickinson is set to host Muhlenberg on Saturday, Sept. 28 in the lone indoor event over Homecoming Weekend. Muhlenbeg is currently 6-5 overall and 1-1 in Centennial Conference play.
Last season, Dickinson beat Muhlenberg 3-2 over homecoming weekend. The win was the start of a three-game win streak for the Red Devils. They entered the Muhlenberg game last season at 1-11 overall and finished 7-14.
