Football Set to Take on Johns Hopkins
The Red Devils used their bye week to prepare for nationally-ranked Johns Hopkins, who they will travel to face on Friday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.
The Blue Jays enter the game perched atop the Centennial Conference with a 4-0 conference record. They are 5-0 overall and currently rank fifteenth in the nation, according to the d3football.com poll. Last season, Johns Hopkins beat Dickinson 49-0.
After getting off to a slow start, the Red Devils have shown much improvement. They lost their opening game to Hobart 31-0 and lost their second game to Juniata 37-14, but, they followed up the consecutive losses with consecutive wins.
Against Susquehanna, Dickinson relied on the accurate passing of Cole Ahnell ’15 to down the Crusaders, 24-21. The following week, Dickinson celebrated Homecoming Weekend in style by crushing Moravian 31-7 by way of six interceptions and the strong running of Shawn Wilson ’15, who was named Centennial Conference Offensive Player of Week.
In the annual Wagon Battle, Dickinson played a much better game than the score reflected. Although they lost to F&M 35-14, they had a shot to tie the game late in the third quarter before the Diplomats took over.
Following the Johns Hopkins game, Dickinson travels to Muhlenberg on Saturday, Oct. 26. Muhlenberg is currently 2-2 in the conference and 3-2 overall.
