T&F Competes at Haverford Invitational
The Dickinson men’s and women’s track and field teams traveled to Haverford College on Saturday, Feb. 8 to compete in the Seamus McElligott Inivitational. The men and women both did extremely well, winning first place in multiple events throughout the day.
The men started off strong with Aaron Pannell ’14 winning first place in the 60-meter race with a time of 7:02. Charles Myers ’17 finished in fifth with a time of 7:58 and Justin Kiehne finished just behind with a time of 7:63. Pannell also took first in the 200-meter race with a time of 23:11 and placed second in the long jump. Mu Mu ’15 finished the 400-meter race in 52:90, ending up in fourth place. Jon Jackson ’14 and Charlie Bayne ’15 ran in the 800-meter race and received seventh and fifteenth place respectively.
In the distance category, Robbie Sansevere ’14 ran the mile in 4:21 earning fifth place and Conor White ’15 finished just ten seconds after, with a time of 4:31, earning eleventh place. Ryan Steinbock ’14, Greg Clark ’14, and Henry Mynatt ’14 took first, second, and third place respectively in the 5000 meter-race. Steinbock was also named the Centennial Conference Track and Field Athlete of the Week.
Mu Mu also added a third place finish in the 60 m hurdle race after finishing in 8:83. Hartin Rainey ’16 received fourth place in the triple jump with a distance of 12.03 m. The throwers had a successful day with Michael Vecchio ’14 placing fifth with a distance of 12.29 m and Taylor Black ’16 receiving seventh place in the with a distance of 11:54 m. First year Kayla Zoschg ’17 made a big impact and finished in first place in the shot put with a distance of 9.02 m.
Olivia Schumann ’15 took first place in the 200-meter race with a time of 26:87 and Aphnie Germain ’17 and Glenn Carr ’17 finished just behind her, earning ninth and eleventh place, respectively. Stacey Adamcik ’15 and Imani Beard ’17 finished the 400-meter race within the same second and earned fifth and sixth place. Adamcik also finished the 60-meter hurdle in 11:04 and received fourth place.
Mackenzie Shelgren ’16 contributed to the distance effort and received twelfth place in the 800-meter race and second place in the mile race. Sara Patterson ’14 finished the 5000-meter race in 17:42 and received first place and right behind her was junior Sarah Rutkowski, who finished in 19:19 and received third place. Rebecca Race ’16 raced in just behind with a time of 18:20 and earned fourth place.
Jumping 1.52 meters was enough to put Imani Beard ’17 in second place in the high jump and Amanda Jimcosky ’17 jumped 1.47 meters and earned third place. Kristina Link ’15 received second place in the triple jump. Rikka Olson ’17 received first place in the pole vault with a height of 3.25 meters and Sophie Moore ’17 ended up in third place in the long jump with a distance of 4.56 meters.
The Red Devil’s track and field team has their next meet on Saturday, Feb. 15 in Carlisle, when they will be hosting the DuCharme Invitational. Dickinson seeks another DuCharme title, with both the men and the women having won several in a row.
