Squash Sweeps Weekend
The Dickinson men’s and women’s squash teams, ranked No.17 and No. 18, respectively, each earned two wins on Saturday, Feb. 3. The men won a 9-0 decision over hosts No. 29-ranked Haverford College as well as topping New York University, 9-0. The women blanked both No. 30 Haverford and George Washington University by scores of 9-0.
The men swept all nine flights, 3-0 against Haverford. Finn Trimble ’21 won the first flight (11-3, 11-8, 11-2) while Alex Wattles ’20 won big in the fifth, going (11-2, 11-4, 11-1). Tanay Murdia ’21 followed up with a (11-4, 11-1, 11-8) win in the fifth.
Frank Goossens ’21 took the top flight against NYU by a score of 3-1 (12-10, 3-11, 12-10, 11-7), as the Red Devils only gave up three sets to the Royals on the day. Cory Litman ’19 won the second flight 3-0 while Wattles won the third set, 3-0, his second win of the day. The men’s team moves to 8-7 overall so far on the season.
For the women against Haverford, Hedvika Suchankova ’19 won the top flight (11-8, 11-6, 11-7) while Domenica Romo ‘19 and Eloise Nimoityn ‘20 took the second and third flights by tallies of (12-10, 11-6) and (12-10, 11-6, 11-2), respectively. Abbie Wingerd ’19 only allowed three points in the eighth flight (11-0, 11-1, 11-2) while Alanis Perez ’19 won the ninth flight, surrendering just five points (11-1, 11-1, 11-3).
Dickinson won seven 3-0 victories out of nine flights against George Washington. Nimoityn won the top flight (11-2, 11-3, 11-1) while Nicole DeLuca ’19 took home the second flight, (11-4, 11-5, 11-1) as the Red Devils improve to 6-8 overall. Both the men’s and women’s teams will host Franklin & Marshall College on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 1:00 pm.
