Men’s Soccer Falls to Messiah, Tops Swarthmore
The Dickinson College men’s soccer team had a double game week but pushed their way to the end.
To begin the week, Wednesday September 12, the Red Devils hosted number one ranked Messiah. The scoring in the game opened with Messiah. Messiah pulled the score to 3-0 before the men of Dickinson were able to put a shot on the board.
Pushing as hard as they could in the second half after Messiah scored again, the Red Devils tried to catch up with Frederick Cisse ’22 putting a shot in goal cutting the score to 4-2. Unfortunately, this is where the men stayed and finished the game with a 2-5 loss.
To continue the week, the Red Devils hosted Swarthmore, Saturday, Sept. 15, to open the centennial conference. Mohamed Kourouma ’21 and Kevin Gilbert Jr. ’20 put the Red Devils on the board in the first half and helped to hold the score to 2-1 going into the half.
In the second half Dickinson continued to demonstrate their strength and determination as a team. Taylor Eynon ’21 and Evan Collins ’20 scored two more goals for the Red Devils to ensure a large lead. Although Dickinson and Swarthmore were almost evenly matched in number of shots, taking 17 and 16 respectively, Dickinson secured the win with a 4-1 victory.
This advanced the overall record to 3-2-1 and 1-0-0 in the centennial conference. We wish the men luck as they travel to McDaniel, Saturday, Sept. 22.
