As an alumna of Dickinson and the current Judge of Elections for the Carlisle 3-1 precinct, I am writing to underscore the importance of messages you have received from Dickinson Votes, from faculty members and/or from the College Republicans and Democrats. Specifically, I would like to emphasize two points.
First, please use 272 West High Street, Carlisle PA 17013 as your address when filling out a voter registration form so you can vote in the 3-1 precinct, where the poll workers and I are thrilled to welcome you!
If you are currently registered instead at 28 North College Street, please use a voter registration form to change your address to 272 West High. Make sure it is received at the Cumberland County Bureau of Elections no later than Monday, October 21 (this is also the deadline for registering to vote).
Those who remain registered at 28 North College will have to vote at the Carlisle Baptist Church, 777 West North Street, which is almost a mile from campus. Those registered at 272 West High will vote at the Bosler Library just across from Denny Hall.
Second, please do not accept offers from anyone not associated with the College who says they will provide you with a registration form and deliver it to the Cumberland County Bureau of Elections.
Random individuals approaching students on campus with such offers have been known to discard registration forms filled out by students, rather than delivering them to the County.
Discovering on Election Day that you are not in fact registered and thus cannot vote is devastating. The Carlisle 3-1 poll workers and I have seen the shock and dismay on the faces of students who thought they would be voting for the first time.
