Following a nationwide search, Director of Athletics Joe Giunta has announced that Brad Fordyce has been brought on as the head coach of the Dickinson Red Devil football program. Fordyce has a great deal of experience coaching and recruiting in Pennsylvania, coming to Carlisle from Bucknell University, where he was an assistant coach and linebackers coach.

Fordyce graduated from Springfield College with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science in 1997 before going on to earn his master’s degree in education from McDaniel College in 2001. Fordyce got his start in coaching as a strength and conditioning intern with the U.S. Navy before moving on to C. Milton Wright High School to coach their wide receivers and defensive backs. He then began his nine-year stint at McDaniel, during which he served as the head strength and conditioning coach as well as coaching the linebackers on the team’s way to five straight Centennial Conference championships, producing three All-American linebackers along the way.

Fordyce eventually took over as defensive coordinator and led a punishing defense that was consistently ranked nationally.  He joined the Bucknell coaching staff in 2014 and coached the Bison linebackers, producing six All-Patriot League LBs during his time there.

Fordyce replaces Darwin Breaux at the head coaching position, who served at that position for 24 years, amassing an overall record of 131-113-1 and a 97-81-1 record in the Centennial Conference. He also holds the record for wins by a Dickinson football coach, Coach Breaux continues to lead the Red Devils men’s golf team, a position he has held for 17 seasons.
