Men’s Swimming Falls to Swarthmore

The Dickinson men’s swim team suffered a 113-92 setback in the regular season finale at Swarthmore College on Saturday afternoon, February 4.

The Red Devils held their own in the distance events as Mitch Reynolds ’18 won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:04.53 and claimed second in the 500 with a time of 4:52.44.

Alex Bennett ’17 finished just ahead of Reynolds to take first place in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:41.98. He also won the 200 freestyle, touching the wall in 1:46.38, and swam the anchor leg of the second place 200 free relay effort.

Travis Lipscomb ’17 swam the first leg of the free relay and added a pair of second-place performances in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events with times of 22.52 and 49.99, respectively.

Graham Novitch ’20 was second in the 200 freestyle, touching the wall in 2:00.85. He also swam the lead leg of the 400-medley relay, finishing in 3:34.54 to place second.

The Red Devils swept the top three spots in the 200 breaststroke event, led by Sam Eaton ’17 with a winning time of 2:10.53. Nick Beard ’18 was second (2:14.88) and Will Freeman ’20, came in third with a time of 2:15.69.

Freeman took home second in the individual medley with a time of 2:01.81 while Eaton swam the second leg of the medley relay.

The Red Devils finish the regular season with a record of 7-4 overall and 3-3 in the Centennial Conference. They will travel to Franklin & Marshall for the Centennial Conference Championships on February 17th, 18th and 19th.
