Book Review
Love and Misadventure by Lang Leav
It’s been quite a while since I’ve read a book of poetry on my own accord and not for the classroom, so after hearing all the hype about this tiny book of “Love and Misadventure” on various social media sites, I decided to pick it up and try it out.
Not only is it a work that can easily be read in a single sitting, but it is also a work that I feel one could constantly fall back on and enjoy again and again. The poems are oddly comforting (albeit sometimes heartbreaking), relatable, emotional, empowering, raw and mystifying.
Leav opens herself up for all her readers to see, expressing the beginnings of love to heartbreak in the simplest of forms, creating complex meaning through the ubiquitous adventures and emotions of love and loss. Wonderfully crafted and beautifully illustrated, this collection of poetry will certainly warm the heart during these cold winter days.
