De-stress with Springfest

Since the 1980s, Dickinson has hosted its annual Springfest to “celebrate the end of the academic year,” according to MOB Vice Chair Julia Huddy ’19.

In past years, Morgan Field was the only location for Springfest; however, this year MOB is expanding to the Academic Quad. “This year we’re really excited to be expanding…going bigger is exciting,” said Maria Villotti ’18, MOB chair. In addition, last year’s Springfest was interrupted by some rain, forcing most of the event to be moved from Morgan Field to the HUB. “Despite the morning weather, it cleared up in the afternoon and ended up being really nice outside…Everyone really seemed to enjoy themselves though and it didn’t matter that much that we were in the HUB instead of outside on Morgan Field,” said Huddy.

To bring the campus together and let students de-stress before finals, MOB plans to host a variety of activities ranging from a Caf picnic to live music to volleyball. On Morgan Field there will be “inflatables, Caf picnic, live music [and] the Big Red Chair” while the Academic Quad will host “lawn games, Leo’s, food trucks, WDCV…playing music, volleyball and lots of other activities run by Dickinson clubs” according to Huddy. There will also be a tye-dye station on the Academic Quad.

Huddy and Villotti both agree that Springfest will be a time for relaxation and fun all across campus.

“Springfest has become such a big part of the history of the college, and we want people to make it a part of their experience here at Dickinson as well. If you leave with a smile on your face, we’ve done our job,” said Huddy.

Springfest is scheduled to take place on Morgan Field and the Academic Quad from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m on Saturday, April 28.
