Club Spotlight: Pep Band

They may be a brand new organization to Dickinson, but Pep Band is already working to fill an important role on campus. “We’re a way to promote school spirit at games, [as well as] an outlet for musicians on campus who don’t necessarily want to do music in an academic setting,” said vice president Kira Ousey ’21.

“We want to create a creative, relaxed environment so that people can continue their marching band experience from high school,” Chris Ryan ’21, Pep Band co-president stated.

The fact that Dickinson was the only school in the Centennial Conference without a pep or marching band led Ryan and his friends to take on the challenge.

The newest Dickinsonians are eager to make their mark in the ensemble as well and show some school pride through music. One of Pep Band’s members, Madison McIntyre ’22, thought the club was “a great way to engage in music, which is what we all love.”

Hannah Brenner ’22 agreed, adding that she “was missing [her] marching band from high school,” and when she noticed Pep Band’s table at the Activities Fair she was excited to sign up.

If you want to catch Pep Band in action, they will be at all of the home football and basketball games, according to Ousey. One thing’s for sure—Dickinson’s athletes won’t be the only ones playing at games anymore!
