Tribute to the Student in Pajama Pants

Oh, student in pajama pants

I understand your pain

To come to class on time

Or to come in in vain

You studied hard the night before

Or maybe you partied

Either way, you opted for

not being fully tardy

So, you woke up in a rush

Did not shower or brush your hair

Entered class with no blush

Like it is no big affair

You sat in your seat

looking fresh like a daisy

Only one look at your legs

and the professor in me went crazy

For I could spot your pajamas

but I could not say a word

I love my job, thank you very much

and I don’t want to lose it over this bird

So, I must pretend

I do not see your doubtful hygiene or attire

And instead of commenting

I opted to write satire

Perhaps one day you will learn a lesson

Put real pants on

And stop showing up

in bright green cresson

But until that day comes

I must endure

And look on a daily basis

at this haute couture

The worst is

it’s becoming a fashion

A trend

Where might professors join in at the end?

I bought a lot of pajama pants

during the pandemic

Mind as well become

a slacker academic

So, thank you dear student

in pajama pants

For you have won

at the end

Who needs to dress professionally

to come to class

When one can apparently

teach and learn in pajama pants.
