MOB Prepares for Annual Springfest

The Multi-Organizational Board (MOB) will host its annual Springfest event just as the weather in Carlisle begins to look like winter has passed and spring has begun. Abby Flinchbaugh ’15, MOB’s All-College Chair, said that Springfest, located on Morgan Field from 11:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., will have a variety of attractions and fun activites, including live music on the Drayer porch and a camel. “This year’s Springfest will have a petting zoo, Leo’s Ice Cream, live music (Five Guys and a Baby, Mother Moses and Ellen-Siberean Tiger), Bricker’s French Fries, human foosball, inflatables, free t-shirts, a cafeteria picnic and student club tables!”

Flinchbaugh added, “Since the Alpacas were so popular in the past, we decided to up our game this year by bringing an entire petting zoo!”

Flinchbaugh said that she has been planning and putting together Springfest for multiple months. “I’ve been working on Springfest since winter break, but I’ve been working the most since the beginning of February,” she explained. “The best part about planning Springfest was getting to ‘shop’ for all of the different things we could have.  It was super fun picking out what will be there!” She added that there were some difficulties in the planning stages. “The hardest thing is making sure that all the pieces of the puzzle fit together without any holes,” she said, noting that, “trying to figure out how to make the most students happy is also pretty tricky.”

Flinchbaugh described Springfest as a Dickinson tradition, saying, “MOB chooses to do this event every year mainly out of tradition.  I think that this is one of the most enjoyable campus events because it’s one of the few times throughout the year that the entire campus can enjoy time outside together.” Emphasizing that Springfest brings the student population together, Flinchbaugh continued, “Everyone is typically in a great mood at Springfest and it becomes one of those Dickinson memories that you remember years later!”

Sarah Rose ’15, MOB Chair, reiterated, “Springfest is a such a great annual event for people to come out, enjoy the nice weather (hopefully), hangout with friends and have a great time. We’ve got food, music, free shirts and a petting zoo in one place. Who could resist that?”

Sophia Brocenos ’17 said that she attended last year’s Springfest and will be attending this year’s, too. “It’s nice to see all the clubs coming out to celebrate the beginning of spring and warm weather. My favorite part last year was the make your own stuffed animal activity and the free t-shirts.”

Goeun Choi ’17 said, “I had a lot of fun renting a dog last year and plan to do it again this year.”

MOB member Emily Barbasch ’18 echoed Choi, noting that this will be her first Springfest and that she’s also excited to rent a dog through the Rent-a-Pet activity and have some cotton candy from the cotton candy machine.

Ali Witner ’15 agreed, saying, “I’m so thrilled about Springfest. I love hanging out on Morgan Field. A couple of years ago they had a worms and dirt dessert, which was amazing.”

For her part, Flinchbaugh said, “I’m excited for the entire event, there isn’t a part of the event that I’m not excited about, but the petting zoo and live music are probably my top two…maybe the Leo’s.”
