Quarry Staircase Undergoing Repairs

The stairway to the second floor area of the Quarry has been sealed off by construction wrapping for the past two weeks as facilities workers complete structural maintenance to the staircase.

“Some cracks were reported in the stairwell so we have it closed off until a structural evaluation is completed,” said Facilities Management advisor Kristen Kostecky. “We removed some plaster so the engineer can better evaluate it, but that’s about it.”

There is no new construction or renovations to the second floor lounge at this time.

Once all the needed work to be done is identified, Facilities Management will fix the damage and re-open the stairwell. Quarry patrons can expect the area to return before the semester closes. In the meantime, students have been heading to The Quarry’s basement for pool and foosball.

“I didn’t even know there was a basement!” said Nicholas Clarke ’19.

Quarry diners can also make use of the first floor seating area as well as the tables outside.
