Witnesses Say Gun Fired Outside Quick Stop Deli in Carlisle
At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Saturday a gun was fired and a man holding a gun was witnessed running from a group outside the Quick Stop Deli at the corner of W. Louther Street and Cedar Street in Carlisle.
“I was in the car and all of a sudden, I heard what sounded like a gunshot,” said Jessica Huang ’19, who was sitting in front of the Goodyear residence hall on W. Louther Street.
Barbara Ware, who lives across the street from the deli, said she saw 8 to 10 people outside the store. One male was “screaming ‘I’m going to kill somebody,’” she said.
Huang said she saw two men run down Cedar Street, and witnessed one male fire one shot, the direction of which was unclear to her.
Two cars appeared to be involved, a white GMC and a maroon Dodge Intrepid, said Ware. Half of the group outside the deli got into the white car at that point, said Ware, and drove west on W. Louther Street.
“It seemed like those two cars were the ones being targeted by the shooter and to my knowledge there was only one gun,” said Huang.
“The police didn’t come for another two or three minutes,” Ware said. At 5:45 p.m., police were at the scene and described it as an “active investigation,” according to Officer Peter Castle of the North Middleton force, who was aiding the Carlisle police in the investigation.
“We don’t have a victim, we don’t have a shooter, it’s very preliminary,” said Dispatcher Mike Clepper of the Carlisle Police Department. “We don’t know anything right now other than shots fired because we found casings,” he said.
Clepper advises people in the area to “use caution.” Anyone with information should call 717-243-5252, extension 3, he said.
