Vandals Break ATS Windows

The entrance to ATS, with windows boarded over due to damage

Windows on the front of the Anita Tuvin Schlecter (ATS) auditorium were broken over winter break. According to Dee Danser, Chief of the Department of Public Safety (DPS), the windows were broken intentionally.

In an email, Danser said that on Dec. 28, 2019, DPS officers on patrol noticed that two windows on the front of the building had been damaged. Danser explained that the damaged windows had “holes and chips” in the glass, and that “it appears unknown persons threw rocks at the windows.”

In an email, Associate Vice President of Campus Operates Kristen Kostecky explained that replacing the damaged windows will take “a few weeks” due to the time needed to obtain new windows. “Due to the size, the glass is a long lead item” Kostecky said. She added that the repair itself will be completed by an outside vendor.

Danser noted that the situation is still under investigation. However, “there are no cameras which cover the front of ATS and we have no suspects at this time.”
