Letter from the New Opinion Editor

Dear readers,

I apologize for not introducing myself as the new Opinion Editor in last week’s issue. I was eager to create content and read articles pertaining to Dickinson College life as I have been abroad in Copenhagen the past five months. My name is Casey, and I am currently a junior studying Policy Management and American Studies. I am a member of the Women’s Golf Team here at Dickinson (yes, we do have such a team) and I am on Student Senate. I am from St. Croix, a small island in the Virgin Islands. So, it is safe to say I’m not enjoying my first week back in the snow as much as I should be, but who is?

I took this position knowing that the Editorial section is for students, faculty, administration and alumni to share their opinions, experiences, and views on any subject. Articles range from opinions on the State of the Union address to reviews of unhappy (or happy) students in the caf. Global to campus issues are welcome! I strongly encourage you to consider writing an article for the Opinion Section if you are irritated with a campus issue, or if you have a strong opinion you would like to share. I would also love to hear feedback or responses to any articles written in the past. Shoot me an email ([email protected]), a text, or a Facebook message. I’m here to hear you and to spread your opinions to the Dickinson campus.

On another note, I would like to share with you that there will be one change to this section. A few students had concern last semester as to how the Question of the Week responses were collected. Instead of placing small pieces of paper into envelopes outside The Dickinsonian office, I have appointed two reporters who will roam the halls of the HUB and other social areas on campus and poll students. These reporters will help me gather hard data that I will then share in the Opinion Section each week with hopes of getting feedback. Student’s can also post their responses on the Dickinsonian website. I hope this takes out all the confusion and allows students to have a voice in our newspaper.

Thanks for reading, and I hope to hear from some of you!

From,

New Opinion Editor
