The Dickinson men’s squash team opened their 2016-17 season with a pair of shutouts at home, topping Lehigh University and New York University by scores of 9-0 on Saturday, November 5.

The Red Devils went undefeated in sets in the opener against Lehigh as Abdelrahman Elsergany ’19 led the way in the top flight (11-0, 11-5, 11-4) while Hal Holappa ’19 surrendered just 10 points in a three-set win in the No. 2 spot.

The Red Devils faced some stronger match-ups in the nightcap, but the final results were the same as Dickinson won all nine flights.

Elsergany won in three sets (12-10, 11-8, 12-10) while Haloppa survived a close battle in the second (14-12, 4-11, 14-12, 11-5).

Andrew Strudwick ’19 moved into the No. 4 flight in the second match, posting an (11-2, 11-4, 11-1) victory. Struzenski moved into the No. 9 spot and had an identical result (11-0, 11-0, 11-1) to his win over Lehigh, combining to allow just two points on the day.

Zachary Najera ’20 took home a win in his first collegiate match (11-3, 11-0, 11-0) to capture the eighth flight.

The Red Devils are off to a stellar 2-0 start to the season. They travel to the U.S. Naval Academy next weekend in Annapolis, Maryland for the Navy Round Robin on Saturday, November 12, where the women’s squad will compete in their first competition of the season as well.
