Men’s Swim Drops Meet to Division-II Bloomsburg

The Dickinson men’s swim team kept things close but couldn’t pull out a win against Division II Bloomsburg University on Saturday afternoon, November 18, falling 106-89.

Will Freeman ’20 won two solo events as he topped the 200 individual medley and the 200 breaststroke, posting respective times of 2:00.74 and 2:18.23. He placed third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 50.26. While Nick Beard ’18 finished second in both the 200 breaststroke (2:18.57) and the 200 medley relay.

Tyler Catania ’21 notched an individual win in the 200 freestyle, with a time of 1:50.87 and participated in the winning free relay. Allen Belo ’18 was right behind Catania, finishing second in the 200 free, clocking in at 1:54.77.

Mitch Reynolds ’18 went one-two in the 1000 and 500-yard freestyle events, posting respective times of 10:24.30 and 4:59.89.

Catania finished second in the 500 (5:10.12) while classmate Tommy Dunn ’21 touched the wall third in the 1000 with a mark of 11:11.05. James Cummings ’20 was third in the 500, finishing in 5:18.21.

Graham Novitch ’20 anchored the winning free relay, along with second-place finishes in the 200 backstroke (2:14.13) and in the medley relay. Colin Shea ’21 anchored the medley relay and swam the lead leg of the free relay as the the Red Devils combined for a total time of 1:30.18.

Jake Beley ’18 finished second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:54.77 while Ryan Lucas ’20  took second in the 200 breaststroke (2:26.55) and Liam Pauli ’21 touched the wall third in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:41.13.

The Red Devils slip to 3-2 overall on the season. They will travel to the Gettysburg Invitational on Friday, December 1 and Saturday, December 2 at Gettysburg College to face two opponents that are yet-to-be-determined.
