Dickinson’s volleyball team defeated Bryn Mawr but lost to Lycoming during the tri-match Dickinson hosted this weekend Saturday, Oct. 13. The women feel an extra level of excitement and motivation when they play at home.

The first match for the Devils was against Bryn Mawr. They played a great game winning the first three sets. In the first set, Dickinson and the Owls were point for point during the initial rallies of the game. Once they hit their stride, however there was no stopping the Devils from pulling ahead and winning the set 25-14.

During the second set ,Bryn Mawr did not stand a chance. Dickinson was on fire and stayed in the lead for most of the set, winning with a score of 25-10. The Owls would not take a clean sweep lying down and tried to keep up with Dickinson in the third set. The Devils would not back down however and won their third and final set against Bryn Mawr 25-20.

Their second match was against Lycoming. While the girls did not win any of the sets in this game, they did not go down without a fight. The Devils used their momentum from their sets against Bryn Mawr earlier in the day. They only lost the first set against the Warriors 25-19. Dickinson seemed to be losing steam in the second set, falling to Lycoming 25-12. The girls fought back fiercely in what would be their final set against Lycoming. Dickinson was almost able to win the third set, only losing 25-21.

This tri-match brings the team’s records to 9-15 overall and 2-5 in the Centennial Conference.

The Devils have another tri-match this coming Saturday, Oct. 20 at Haverford College against Haverford and Manhattanville College that will occur over fall break. The athletes will remain on campus to compete.
