Women’s Lacrosse Tops Haverford

The Dickinson College women’s lacrosse team hosted Haverford this past Saturday, April 6. Coming off a 17-12 win the previous week in their Coaches against Cancer game with McDaniel, the women hoped to continue their success. They in fact did just this coming out with a 13-8 victory.

The women of Dickinson were out on top fast putting three on the board before Haverford was able to answer. This momentum from the beginning did not fade and the Red Devils continued their dominance into the half with a 9-3 lead over the Black Squirrels of Haverford.

In scoring alone in the second half, Haverford would have won topping Dickinson by one goal, but thanks to the success of the women in the first half, they finished the game with a 5-goal lead. Throughout the entirety of the game the women were able to work the ball down the field putting a total of 32 shots on goal compared to Haverford’s 22.

There are three women from Dickinson that each put in three goals individually, Erika Bloes ’21, Sam Marmo ’19 and Eleanor Kaestner ’19. There is a lot of strength in the senior class and they represent their dominance on the field. Anne Dunster ’19 won Centennial Conference athlete of the week because of her performances against McDaniel scoring three goals of her own and making three assists, and putting up similar numbers with two goals and three assists against Haverford.

This win brings the women to an 8-3 record overall and a 3-1 record in the Centennial Conference.

We wish the Red Devils luck as they are set to host Swarthmore College for another in-conference game Saturday, April 13 at 3 p.m. where they will hope to again continue their positive momentum for their senior day, honoring each of the seniors on the team for one of their last home games.
