Last Saturday, Nov. 9, the Dickinson College Red Devils traveled to Bethlehem, Pa., to face the Moravian College Greyhounds. The Devils lost a tough game 24-6 as their offense was unable to move the football effectively. Despite difficulties on the offense, especially in the passing game, one receiver who stood out was Daniel Bathon ’22. Bathon caught 5 receptions for 79 yards, averaging almost 16 yards per catch. After the loss, the Devils fell to 5-4 with a 4-4 record against conference opponents.  

Although the team lost, the game was very interesting. First, Dickinson won the coin toss and elected to receive to start the game. Both offenses started slow. The Devils’ first drive began with a punt while the Greyhounds answered with a turnover on downs. After a drive that saw the Devils’ offense make it to the opposing 16-yard line before facing fourth down, the Devils attempted a kick, but it was missed wide left, returning possession to the Greyhounds. The first score of the game didn’t come until the beginning of the second quarter when Quarterback Tim Graham’s ’21 pass was intercepted at Dickinson’s 42-yard line. This set up excellent field position for the Greyhounds as they were able to convert the takeaway into a touchdown on their ensuing drive. Early into the Devils’ next drive, their attempt to answer was foiled as Graham threw another interception. Again, the takeaway led to points for the Greyhounds, bringing the score to 14-0. The Greyhounds attempted to kick a field goal before the end of the half, but their kicker missed wide right, keeping the score at 14-0 heading into halftime.  

The rest of the scoring came in the third, as the Greyhounds began the quarter with 10 unanswered points to increase their lead to 24-0. The Devils were able to answer with a touchdown of their own as the quarter winded down, but a failed two-point conversion left the score at 24-6. Both defenses fought well in the final quarter, keeping the final score at 24-6.  

Next Saturday, Nov. 16, the Red Devils host the Ursinus College Bears in their last game of the season where they hope to end with a success and on a winning record. We wish the men luck in this upcoming game.
