Men’s Basketball Defeated By York College in Season Opener

After a long preseason, and season of practices, competition season has started for the men’s basketball team. They had their first game Tuesday, Nov. 12, against York College at home. They had an unfortunate 63-90 loss.

The start of the game was back and forth for both teams as they remained even with each other trading the lead until the last minutes of the first half where the Spartans pulled in to an eight point lead. When the second half began, York pulled the lead to 14 and then 20 by the time they were halfway through.

The Spartans maintained this lead for the remainder of the game and didn’t let up until the clock ran to zero. The game did not go down without a fight however, and the Red Devils played as strong of a game as they could. Chris Bates ’22 led the Red Devils in points scored putting up a total of 12. Adam Drummond ’22 led the Red Devils in rebounds and assists with 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Bryce Allen ’20 was close behind with three rebounds and three assists.

The Red Devils were 41.8 percent from the free throw line compared to the Spartans who were 56.5 percent from the line. York led in rebounds as well with 38 compared to Dickinson’s 21.

Dickinson has added five new first years to the roster for this upcoming season that the team hopes will be a beneficial factor on the road to victory in their long season ahead.
