Men’s Club Lacrosse Team Experiences Undefeated Season

The Dickinson College Men’s Club Lacrosse team is ranked number 19 in the nation and has gone undefeated this season, said Mac Dinsmore ’16, a goalie on the team.

According to Dinsmore, “All of the men’s college teams are ranked by laxpower.com.” He explained that all of the scores are self-submitted electronically, but noted that both teams have to submit the score, meaning that the ranking is accurate.

The Men’s Club Lacrosse team had been ranked in the top 10 teams earlier in the year, said Dinsmore, who attributed the wins to solid players and leadership. “We have some pretty talented guys who have been able to get the most out of the team. The senior leadership is pretty fantastic this year.”

The team practices every Monday and Thursday, explained Dinsmore, noting, “We start off with basic drills and then we play either half field or full field.” He described the practices as easy-going, saying, “They’re not structured. They’re open to everybody that wants to learn. ”

Dinsmore says there are about 45 guys who show up to home games and that about 20 come to away games, and that the team is self-coached.

One of the difficulties the team faces is that coordinating schedules with other teams can be difficult. “It’s very hard; probably the hardest thing the captains do,” he explained, because every year the leadership on each team changes, making it difficult to get in contact with other teams. “Every year we’ve had at least one game cancelled,” said Dinsmore. He added that another difficulty is the weather and they can only start in March; the season is shortened because of the wet winter weather on the East Coast.

Dinsmore added that the team is trying to “Strive for Five,” meaning that the team is striving for its fifth State Championship. Though there is no official governing body to designate a Championship, Dinsmore said, “Generally we beat all the other teams in Pennsylvania.”

The Men’s Club Lacrosse Team will play their last game of the season on Sunday at Rowan University in New Jersey.
