Smile, because it’s the most wonderful time of year – sweater season, that is! With temperatures reaching frightening lows this past week, it seemed as though students needed to debut some of their winter clothes. After coming back from Fall Pause, it feels like it is a different season than when we left for our short break. Therefore with this fresh wave of cold weather, students must adjust their clothing choices. The reason sweater season is so exciting is because there are so many different types of sweaters that not only look good, but also keep you nice and toasty through these low temperatures.

I have noticed that oversized sweaters are becoming a favorite among female students as they keep you cozy and warm in this cold weather. This oversized sweater is also known as the “boyfriend” sweater as it sends the message that a girl is wearing a men’s sweater. This “boyfriend” sweater look is also connected to the vintage sweater trend as vintage sweaters inspire many of the sweaters that are popular these days. These trends include styles such as the cable knit sweater and other various patterns.

A common trend for the cold weather season is cashmere sweaters. For those who are not familiar with cashmere, it is a type of wool made from the coat of goats. It is a fine quality material that is particularly soft and provides great insolation, therefore offering warmth. While cashmere tends to be on the expensive side, clothing designers these days are making cashmere sweaters more affordable by blending the cashmere with other materials such as cotton or merino wool. These cashmere blend sweaters are perfect because while they offer warmth, they also provide a polished, fashionable look to any outfit!
