Wardrobes with Wardwell: Fall In Love with Fall Fashion

Wardrobes with Wardwell: Fall In Love with Fall Fashion

Fall is, by far, the favorite season of many. From the beautiful foliage to those pumpkin spice lattes and cider donuts, this somewhat chilling weather is a time for lots of layers. For the longest time, keeping the balance of warmth and fashion has been an ongoing emotional endeavor for many college students. Unsurprisingly, there are many times where the look of an oversized sweater and leggings can be very appealing. Occasionally, with the wind chills and Carlisle’s miserable rain showers, we found ourselves becoming too familiar with rather frumpy looking and laid-back fall wear.

With all four major fashion weeks under our belt, it’s time to sit back and evaluate all the major trends that will become popular this season. With over 500 different outfit ensembles to look at, it could take hours to indulge in fashion week coverage. That being said, with the consuming demands of papers and exams from our professors, note the following quick list of trends that every girl will love this season.

The first trend that has been spotted all over runways is plaid; specifically red plaid. From Alexander Wang to Marc by Marc Jacobs, designers are becoming increasingly fond of this very classic fabric. Other designers such as Michael Kors and Altuzarra are featuring the print in fall inspired colors from cuffed trousers to sharp cut blazers. As an individual who is guilty of over wearing black, red plaid is a very nice transition when it comes to brightening your wardrobe.

Models were seen sporting a lot less leg in knee-high boots in London based shows such as Burberry and Vivienne Westwood. Personally, this is my favorite trend and likely will be seen everywhere this fall and upcoming winter season. The over-the-knee boot is really practical and has a very great look. They are super warm when you wear them alone or over a pair of tights — it provides an extra layer, helping to shield the cold weather wind.

Third on the list of the best trends this coming season is high wasted pants. It’s safe to say that I own way more high wasted pants than not. This particular cut is not only comfortable but is an exaggerated silhouette that results in the long look of lean legs and a small waist making you feel polished and put together.

Finally my last item on the list for this week is tights. As like many of the trends mentioned earlier, tights, continuing the covering legs mantra and had a major role on runways. From thigh-highs to fishnets, designers presented legwear that will not only be appropriate for the freezing weather but will be the perfect accessory for almost any outfit. Seen on models for Saint Laurent, Proenza Schouler, and Rodarte, ripped tights were paired with short skirts and basic  sweater dresses. For those fashion risk-takers, try embellished tights with a cute cocktail dress or miniskirt.
