Fashion Column: Margie’s Prints

Margie (Meggie) Bromberg ’20, a studio art major, has been printing her own shirts since 2014. Her business started as a high school assignment to create a screen print. According to Bromberg, one of her classmates asked if she would print her design on “one of his old shirts and then he wore it out one day and he told me people kept asking him where he bought it,” which is when she realized she could potentially sell her design on shirts.

Bromberg uses her time creating shirts as a way to relax and get personal time. “It’s a stress reliever, it is so therapeutic for me to go to the studio by myself and listen to music and just get into the rhythm of printing shirt after shirt,” said Bromberg. While Bromberg loves creating art for a home or building, she prefers “the idea of hanging it on your body, that way it gets to travel!”

While Bromberg is known for her classic nude torso print, she is also in the process of creating about two or more designs.

“I don’t want to give out too many hints as to what’s to come, as I like a little surprise, but one does include text and the other includes multiple bodies,” she said.

For anyone interested in purchasing one of Bromberg’s shirts, they can direct message her on Instagram as well as follow her for “updates about possible pop-up shops” (@margies_prints).
