1940: Disney’s second-ever feature length movie, Pinnochio premiered in New York City.

1961: Actress, writer, political activist and former model Jane Fonda made her acting debut on this day in the NBC movie A String of Beads.

1978: In 1978 actor Ashton Kutcher, known for his role as Michael Kelso in “That ’70s Show”, was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

1992: Shannon LaRhea Marketic of California was crowned the 41st Miss USA. 

2001: The Berlin 51st International Film Festival was held. Intimacy, a film directed by Patrice Chéreau, was the winner of the Golden Bear that year.

2006: For her contributions and achievements in art and literature, actress Uma Thurman was named a knight of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres of France.
