Red Devil of the Week: Alex Tapia ’22

Alex Tapia ’22 is from Northern Virginia. Although she is currently undeclared she is interested in theater, psychology and neuroscience as possible areas of study. Her father is from Peru, but because of her skin color, most of the time people assume she is just white. While growing up, she shared, “I let my environment kind of identify me as white.”

Over the years, she has embraced her identity fully, and is learning more about Latin American culture by continuing Spanish and joining the Spanish club at Dickinson. One of her favorite quotes goes something like “The world has bigger problems than girls who kiss girls and boys who kiss boys.” She believes this is powerful statement for today and said it’s “something that should be so normal.”
