Young Squad Concludes Tough Season
The Dickinson women’s basketball team closed out their season this week with two hard fought losses; losing to Muhlenberg on Wednesday Feb. 18, 68-34, and to Franklin and Marshall on Saturday Feb. 22, 61-49.
In Allentown, Muhlenberg jumped out to an early lead and scored the first 14 points of the contest. Jennifer Smith ’17 put the Red Devils on the board at the 14:30 mark of the first half. Smith contributed seven points, along with three rebounds in 21 minutes of play. Erica Buls ’17 led the team with nine points on the day and five boards.
Muhlenberg continued to dominate in the second half en route to their 68-34 victory. Their initial offensive outburst in the first half proved to be too much for the Red Devils to handle. Coach Henry’s squad never really hit their stride throughout the game, as they could not convert their effort into results.
Against F&M, both teams came into the game at 1-16 in conference. Dickinson looked to sweep a F&M team that they beat 47-40 on Jan. 22.
Franklin and Marshall steadily built a lead over the course of the half and led 31-18 at halftime. They did not look back, coming away with the win. Everyone scored for the Red Devils as Liz Schultz ’15 led the team with 12 points and six rebounds.
Dickinson finishes the year with an overall record of 5-19 and a conference record of 1-17. Without any seniors on the current team, the Red Devils look to improve significantly next year. “we will all be returning next year and are hoping to come back even stronger,” said point guard Rachel Sisco ‘16.
