Golf Teams Find Early Success

The Dickinson men’s and women’s golf teams found some success in their first tournaments of the year, posting top-10 finishes in each contest.

The Red Devil women finished 6th in the McDaniel Fall Invitational at the Bridges Golf Club on Saturday, September 17, going 76 shots over par. Stephanie Heiring ’17 was the top finisher for the Red Devils on the day, tieing Alex Philo of McDaniel and Brynne Wiedeman of Stevenson for 13th place at 16 over par.

The women also took home second place in the Susquehanna University Fall invitational at Susquehanna Valley Country Club on Sunday, September 18, finishing 100 over par and edging out McDaniel (+119) and Susquehanna (+133).

Stephanie Heiring ’17 led the way for the Red Devils, finishing in a 3-way tie for fourth place at 13 over par. Hannah Hughes ’20 was Dickinson’s second highest finisher, coming in 10th place at 19 over par. Emily Reider ’19, Meghan Welsh ’17 and Gilian Fennell ’19 ended the day 13th, 16th and 17th with scores of +26, +42 and +49, respectively.

The men’s golf squad finished in fourth place at the Messiah College Falcon Classic at the Blue Ridge Country Club in Harrisburg, PA on Saturday, September 13, with a tally of 31 over par, coming in behind Muhlenberg (+16), Lebanon Valley (+21), and Gettysburg (+22).

Charlie Zane ’20 led the way for the Red Devils, coming in a 3-way tie for eighth place at 4 over par. Jake Kessel ’18 joined him as the only other Red Devil in the top-20, finishing in a 6-way tie for 11th place at 5 over par.

The men’s team made strong rounds on Tuesday, September 20, at the Elizabethtown Fall Invitational in Hershey.

Both teams will compete at the Gettysburg Fall Invitational this weekend, as the men play on Saturday, September 24 and the women tee off on Sunday, September 25.
