Volleyball Earns Trio of 3-0 Wins

The Dickinson volleyball team won all of its matches last week, earning 3-0 wins over Bryn Mawr, Ursinus, and Lancaster Bible College.

The Dickinson volleyball team won all of its matches last week, earning 3-0 wins over Bryn Mawr, Ursinus, and Lancaster Bible College.

The Dickinson volleyball had a great week, sweeping the Owls of Bryn Mawr College on Thursday night, September 28 and recording 3-0 wins over both Ursinus and Lancaster Bible College in a tri-match on Saturday, September 30.

The Red Devils won the opening set against the Owls, 25-12, before cruising to 25-6 and 25-9 wins in the second and third sets, respectively, to take the match.

Norma Jean Park ’18 led the Red Devil offense with five kills while Megan Gombatz ’19 followed closely behind with four.

Setter Kristin Allgaier ’21 recorded 17 assists, along with two aces and six digs. Tatiana Lopez ’21 racked up 10 digs and nine service aces, just one shy of a program record.

The Red Devils started off their tri-match with a 3-0 rout over Ursinus, winning the sets with scores of 25-12, 25-21, and 25-20. Jamie Singer ’21 led Dickinson’s offense with 11 kills, five aces and seven digs.

Park recorded nine kills while Erin Bongo ’18 added eight kills to go along with two aces. Gombatz tacked on six kills and Lopez picked up 10 digs and had two assists.

Allgaier tallied 29 assists in addition to two aces and two kills.

The Red Devils triumphed over the Chargers of Lancaster Bible in three sets as well, turning winning by scored of 25-20, 25-18 and 25-19.

Park and Singer both tallied 10 kills as the Devils tallied 32 total over the course of the match. Singer recorded 14 digs as well while Park tacked on three blocks to become the fifth player in Dickinson volleyball history to record over 200 career blocks.

Lopez added 11 digs, five service aces and four assists while Allgaier contributed 23 assists.

The Red Devils move to 8-10 overall and 2-3 in the Centennial Conference as they hit the road to face Johns Hopkins University on Wednesday night, October 4 at 7:00 p.m. before returning home for a Senior Day match against Washington College on Saturday, October 7.
