Kim Monteferante ’18, Jillian Beemon ’19, and Kayla Bendinelli were honored by the Centennial Conference this week for their outstanding performances this season.

Dickinson field hockey athletes Kim Monteferante ’18 and Jillian Beemon ’20 were named to the 2017 All-Centennial Conference Field Hockey Team on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Kayla Bendinelli ’19 was named to the All-Centennial Conference Sportsmanship Team.

This year marks Monteferante’s third consecutive appearance on the All-Conference team as she was named to the Second-team in 2015 and First-team the last two years. Last year, she became only the second player in Dickinson field hockey history to be awarded with All-American and All-Region honors for her outsanding play on the field.

Under Monteferante’s leadership, the Red Devil defense allowed only 1.6 goals per game over the course of the season. She has been able to produce on offense as well; she tallied two goals and three assists along with two defensive saves throughout 17 games this season, all of which she started in. She has also been nominated to play in the Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Senior Game in Louisville this fall.

Beemon helped anchor Dickinson’s defense throughout the season as well, as is reflected in her selection to the All-Conference Second-team. She earned a starting spot late last year and started all 17 games for the Red Devils this season. Beemon worked with Monteferante to secure six shutouts on the season for the Red Devils along with earning the first assist of her collegiate career.

Dickinson finished the season with a record of 10-7 overall and 5-5 in the Centennial Conference, just missing out on the playoffs due to tie-breaker rules. It was their fifth consecutive season with double-digits in the win column.

As for the rest of this year’s conference honors, Franklin & Marshall’s Erin Coverdale won Offensive Player of the Year while Grace Hillman of John’s Hopkins won Defensive Player of the Year. Washington College’s Kailyn Brandt won Rookie of the Year while Jane Wells of Hopkins won the prestigious Coach of the Year Award.
