Men’s Swimming Places Second

The men’s swimming team finished in second place at the Centennial Conference Championships over the weekend of Feb. 21-23. Jason Adams ’14 earned his third Outstanding Performer of the Meet Award, leading his team to 553 points. Gettysburg finished with 757 and Ursinus came in third at 532.

Adams earned four gold medals and two silver medals over the three-day meet, winning the 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly, 100 backtstroke, and swimming the lead leg of the winning 400 yard medley relay team. He also earned OPM honors in 2011 and 2012.

Brandon Gauthier ’14 earned gold in the 200 breaststroke. Alex Bennett ’17 broke the school records in the 1000 and 1650 freestyles, and Chris Miles broke the school record in the 200 backstroke.

For the women, Caroline Brennan ’15 led the way with school record performances in the 1000 and 1650 freestyles. The women scored 487 points, fourth behind Ursinus’s 671.5, Gettysburg’s 664, and Franklin & Marshall’s 528.

Caitlin Klockner ’16 won the 200 individual medley. Klockner led the school record-breaking 400 medley relay squad along with Emily Houser ’17, Jacqulyn Teller ’17, and Tanita Leary ’17.

Klockner also swam on the bronze-medal winning 800 freestyle relay along with Carson Gannon ’14, Houser, and Brennan. Teller also earned bronze in the 200 breaststroke.
