Volleyball, Basketball Teams to Enjoy Updated Locker Room Facilities

With the help of the McAndrews Fund, Dickinson’s basketball and volleyball teams will be living lavishly with new state of the art locker rooms and other development to the Kline Center.

For years the locker room setup for basketball and volleyball has been described as “mediocre quality.” The most significant changes will be the layout and architectural changes. Specifically speaking, the women’s basketball and volleyball team will be splitting their space and receiving individual lockers and general space.

Assistant director of the McAndrews Fund Chris Cox said, “Some important new features include wooden lockers, audio sound system, TV monitor, soft seating and a gaming system. The visiting team locker room will be converted into a “meeting room” accessible for all teams.

Dickinson Men’s Basketball head coach Alan Seretti when asked about what this means to the program said, “We’re excited the alumni felt strong enough about their experiences as student-athletes at Dickinson to invest in a facility upgrade. The renovations will greatly impact not only our group but the women’s basketball team and the volleyball team as well.”

Looking back over the years, the women’s basketball team and the volleyball team had to share lockers. Now they will be dividing up into different areas and in total the two teams will be getting 37 new individual lockers. The men’s team will no longer have to use metal lockers and they will see overall improvement in the quality of their facility.

As the basketball season is about to begin and the volleyball season already underway, these renovations couldn’t have come at a better time. Senior captain of the men’s basketball team Mike Hinckley said, “I am really excited about the renovations this season. This new space will benefit our team and will help the program recruit strong players. I couldn’t be more thankful for the McAndrews fund, and specifically Chris Cox’s efforts, in pursuing this project.”

Cox on the overall project finally said, “The locker rooms are a huge testament to the support both basketball programs and volleyball have from alumni, parents and the community. Lastly, I cannot reiterate enough how the philanthropic support from our alumni for this project shows the level of involvement, dedication to the culture of sports and bridges the gap between past teams and the current generation.”
